Box of Broadcasts being updated during August

8 August 2016 Posted in: Announcements, News By: Gill Ritchie

The Box of Broadcasts (BoB) service is being upgraded during August. A phased approach is being taken with a new web site going live on 1st August and content being migrated throughout the month. The service should be fully restored in September with a variety of new and improved features.

During August, however, BoB functionality will be limited. You will not be able to access your playlists or clips and some content will not be available. Content you have embedded into other systems, such as QMplus or QMplus Hub, may also not be accessible. You will also find that you have to re-register the first time you log in to the upgraded system. Your content will be available again in September when the upgrade is complete.

The upgrade is bringing a variety of improvements to the service. These include:

  • A platform working across desktop, iOS and Android devices
  • More powerful searching capabilities
  • Better programme coverage and a permanent archive of content from 9 channels: BBC1 London / BBC2 / BBC4 / ITV London / Channel 4 / More4 / Channel 5 / BBC Radio 4 / BBC Radio 4 Extra
  • Better thumbnail previews on search results
  • Preview clips before saving
  • Label your own clips
  • Personalised email alerts when programmes are ready to view
  • More detailed citation data
