6 August 2014 Posted in: Announcements, News Tagged: , By: Alysa Bramble

On Tuesday the 19th August, during the normal at risk period of 7am-9am, there will be a release applied to QMplus. This release will fix issues that were uncovered after the upgrade as well as other enhancements.

Here is what you can expect:

UPGRADE UPDATES:

  1. Module Information Block – this block was disabled after the upgrade as it was causing issues with some courses using the collapsed topics format. These issues have been fixed and will be part of the release.
  2. Landing Pages – after the upgrade some landing pages became distorted and needed to be redesigned. This has been fixed as part of the release.
  3. Faculty Course Themes – the various themes were causing conflicts with the Turnitin Submission inbox displaying. Users who required the Turnitin Submission inbox were asked to change their course theme to the standard QMUL theme – after this release these users to switch back to their faculty theme for the course area.
  4. Other theme related updates, such as: headings for topics in single page format, responsive collapsed topics and landing pages.

NEW PLUGINS:

  1. Scheduler – an activity which helps teachers in scheduling appointments with students. Teachers specify time slots for meetings, students then choose one of them on QMplus. Teachers in turn can record the outcome of the meeting – and optionally a grade – within the scheduler.
  2. Nanogong – can be used by students to record, playback and save a voice file, in a web page. this voice file can be sent to the teacher for grading.
  3. Dropbox – ability to easily add files, saved to your dropbox account, from the QMplus file picker.
  4. Sub-page – allows you to add QMplus activities onto inner pages within course.
  5. Java Molecular Editor (Quiz question type) – can be used to design molecular structures, so you can ask questions such as “Please draw the structure of 2,3-dichloro-but-2-ene” (taken from Moodle docs).

The following have already been fixed since the upgrade:

  1. Anonymous forum posting
  2. Quickmail
  3. Forum messages with random spacing

The following plugins were tested with the intention of being included as part of the August release, but they have not passed testing:
