E-Learning Newsletter April 2015

30 April 2015 Posted in: News Tagged: By: Technology Enhanced Learning Team

Dear colleague,

We hope you enjoy this month’s articles.

Our latest e-Learning production scheme projects

Our latest call for proposals for our e-learning production scheme attracted a significant number of applications and we have been able to fund a total of 9 projects which will be running between now and the end of July. The applications came from a variety of different departments, covered a range of different e-learning activities and demonstrated that staff across QMUL have got some great ideas around incorporating technology into their teaching. Read our article on our latest e-learning production scheme projects to find out more about what was funded and for information on the scheme and future calls for proposals.

QMplus Media is here!

Our media server, QMplus Media, is now available to all QMUL users. This exciting new service provides staff with lots of easy ways to make use of video in their teaching. Have a look at our Getting started with QMplus media page to learn more about what you can do with it. We are also running some starter courses in the coming months. Please book your place now by going to www.esdcourses.org.uk and searching for ‘Getting started with video in teaching with QMplus Media’.

Featured Tool : Teachers can now bulk enrol students

In the April QMplus release, we updated the bulk enrolment tool to allow teachers, as well as previously administrators, to be able to bulk enrol users onto course areas, or into groups already set up in QMplus. See our guide to learn more about how to do this.

QMplus Upgrade 2015

QMplus will be upgraded during the week of 20th July 2015. The new QMplus environment will be released to staff and students by Wednesday, the 22nd July 2015. Visit the upgrade page to more information and click here to see the upcoming features.

More Book a Learning Technologist sessions available

Our “Book a Learning Technologist” service allows you to book time with a member of the E-Learning Unit to discuss any e-learning ideas that you might have. It might be that you have an idea you’d like to develop further, or you’d like to overhaul how you’re using an existing technology or you’d like someone to review your use of technology with you with a view to making practical suggestions for enhancements.

Sessions are now available during May and you can book them via QMplus

If you want to know more about the service, see our one-to-one appointments page.

Upcoming staff development sessions

We have a number of staff development sessions running in May including:
