The return of Box of Broadcasts

9 January 2017 Posted in: Announcements, News By: Gill Ritchie

Box of Broadcasts, or BoB for short, is available to all staff and students at QMUL. It provides access to recordings from a large number of free to air broadcast TV and radio channels. Programmes from several major channels are recorded by default and programmes from other channels can be requested up to 30 days after they have aired. These recordings can be viewed either on or off campus on a variety of different devices and can be shared with others in a variety of ways, including through QMplus.

If you are already a BoB user, you will know that there has been some significant disruption to the service since the summer of 2016 when the system underwent a major update. Unfortunately work on the update went on for much longer than anticipated and functionality has been returning slowly. Over the festive season, the "embed" functionality was restored meaning that you can now embed your BoB content into QMplus, or other websites making it really easy to make use of BoB content.

We have updated our Box of Broadcasts user guides to reflect the updated service.

If you haven’t used BoB before, you might be interested in taking a look at it. It is a fantastic resource for learning and teaching. Why not start with our Introduction to Box of Broadcasts guide?

Remember that staff and students have access to exactly the same functionality on BoB so even if you don’t use it yourself, it’s a great resource to recommend to students.
