Who owns the recording? (IPR)

Authority to make changes and delete recordings

  1. QMUL staff presenters have full control over the recordings of their lectures/presentations and can edit, make unavailable or delete them. They can add additional presenters who will also receive the same editing rights over the recording.
  2. When a member of staff leaves QMUL, this ownership of their Q-Review recordings will transfer to the E-Learning Unit.

Intellectual Property Rights

  1. The document “Queen Mary Policy on Intellectual Property: Overarching Principles” details the rights QMUL has to teaching materials created by members of staff, including “recordings of teaching activities such as lectures”.
  2. QMUL owns the IP rights to Teaching Materials and Administrative Materials, whilst granting the use of those materials by their creator for any purposes consonant with their QMUL employment.
